November 27, 1989 Progressive Black Men was founded on the campus of Florida State University. As we take this day to reflect on our history and accomplishments thus far, I would be remised to not acknowledge the many distinguished and accomplished men that have served and lead this organization to where we are today. To these men I say THANK YOU for your hardwork and dedication to our mission and purpose.
Today, we have seven active chapters spanning across Florida, ongoing expansion initiatives, brothers serving as campus leaders, traveling the world, building corporate careers and entrepreneurial endeavors. But amongst these and many other accomplishments, our society today has taken aim at our young men. The countless senseless killings and inaction of our government system to prosecute the offenders have forced us to protest and make our voices heard. Our fight to redefine and reconstruct the image of the black male is now more relevant then ever.
On April 9-12, 2015 in Tampa, FL we will host our Annual National Conference and we invite you to join us and celebrate the many accomplishment of this great organization. Our founders planted the seed and it is up to us to bring in the harvest.
I am honored and humbled to serve as your National President as we celebrate our 25 years.
“Who are we, We are the Men of Progressive Black Men”
