On November 19, 2012, the Florida Atlantic University Chapter of Progressive Black Men Inc. was chartered. The chapter came to existence following the murder of Trayvon Martin on February 26, 2012. It was clear that even in the year 2012, racial tension was at an all time high on the Boca Raton Campus.
8 young men took it upon themselves to help improve the image of the black male as well as be servants to the South Florida community. In their first year and a half as an organization, the chapter upheld the responsibilities of the organization as written in the mission statement. From Community Service Projects throughout South Florida (Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade) to informative and high quality events on campus, The FAU chapter made it’s presence known in a short time and continues to break boundaries and strive towards higher progress.
